DUI/driver's license checkpoint scheduled tonight in Oxnard

Source: Ventura County Star, Calif.儲存倉July 26--Oxnard police will conduct a DUI/driver's license checkpoint beginning at 6 p.m. Friday and ending at 12 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location in the city.Checkpoints serve as a deterrent to those who otherwise would get behind the wheel while intoxicated, police said.Looking for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment, officers will contact drivers passing through the checkpoint. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.Officers also will check driver's licenses.Police said drivers caught driving while impaired can expect jail, license suspension and insurance cost increases, as well as fines, fees, classes on driving under the influence, and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.In 2010, 迷你倉沙田ore than 10,000 people were killed nationally in motor vehicle traffic crashes that involved at least one driver or motorcycle rider with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 percent or higher, Oxnard police said.Police said checkpoints are placed in locations that have the greatest opportunity for deterrence, police said, with safety considerations for the officers and the public.Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, police said.
