Trojans down PC women 96-65

Source: American News, Aberdeen, S.D.Jan. 23--MADISON -- Dakota State put four players in double figures and shot 53.7 percent from the floor en route to a 96-65 win over Presentation in the first ever North Star Athletic Association meeting between the two teams.In a battle of top performances, PC senior Rachel Fuhrmann matched the Trojans' Alyson Drooger nearly shot for shot. Drooger had 19 points for Dakota State, while Fuhrmann put up 18.However, it was the Trojan supporting cast that carried the day.Kylie Westover had 16 points, BreeAna Olson 12 and Katy Piller chipped in 13 off the bench. All told, the Dakota State bench outscored Presentation reserves 37-21.Presentation could counter with just one other player in double figures. Jackie Miller went 3-for-5 from long range and finished with 13 points.Dakota State held the upper hand in nearly every statistical category, including a 50-22 advantage in the paint and 30-9 in points off turnovers. The Saints had 20 empty possessions on the night to just 11 for the Trojans.Though finishing with just six points, Sydney Larson stepped up for Presentation in other facets of the game. Larson finished with 11 boards, three assists, two steals and PC's lone blocked shot of the night.While the two teams had met once previously this season, Wednesday night's meeting was the first that counted towards the conference standings.
