Prep roundup, Aug. 27

Source: The Daily News, Jacksonville, N.迷你倉C.Aug. 28--BROAD CREEK -- Croatan made some history Tuesday night. With Jake Parrish scoring what proved the winning goal just six minutes into the second half, the Cougars beat Swansboro for the first time ever at home in boys' soccer, downing the Pirates 2-1 in a nonconference match."We've only beaten them twice before in our history," coach Paul Slater said, adding both wins came in the last three years on the road. "This is the first time beating them at home at Croatan. We definitely played well. Any time you beat a team the caliber of Swansboro, you played well."With the score tied, Garrett Bridgewater booted a corner kick that J.T. Dupree headed it, but Swansboro goalkeeper Nick Kohlmann made the save but couldn't corral the ball and Parrish was able to fire the ball into the back of the net."It was definitely a scramble (goal)," Slater said. "But the buildup was nice. We got a clean header and the keeper made a good save (before Parrish was able to score.)."Swansboro coach Doug Kidd said it was a well-played game by both sides."I thought the first half we did some really good things on possession and scored a really nice goal and then they scored a very nice free kick and that kind of got their momentum going a little bit," he said. "I thought they defended very well and their keeper came up with some big saves."Swansboro 1 0 -- 1Croatan 1 1 -- 2GOALS--S: Dolph. C: Montgomery, Parrish. ASSISTS--S: Noonan. C none. And they did not," Hicks said.
