Spoon River Scenic Drive of Fulton County has new stop

Source: Journal Star, Peoria, Ill.mini storageOct. 04--ELMWOOD -- The village of Elmwood, new to the Spoon River Scenic Drive of Fulton County this year, is distinct in one significant way from every other community that participates in the wildly successful annual event -- it's not in Fulton County."Ever since the tornado that destroyed the downtown three years ago, there's been a lot of community involvement and redevelopment and new businesses coming into town," said Jason Centers, one of the organizers who brought the drive to Elmwood. "We just thought becoming an officially sanctioned stop on the scenic drive would be a good way for people to reacquaint with Elmwood."Centers and Village Administrator Dick Taylor made a pitch to the Spoon River Scenic Drive Board, which welcomed Elmwood's participation."They seemed really excited about adding a new community," Centers said.It makes sense. Elmwood is two miles away from Fulton County, seven miles from Farmington. Centers advised Spoon River Drive visitor儲存 to get out of the backed-up traffic on Illinois Route 116 into Farmington at Stone School Road and take it into Elmwood. They can visit the Elmwood site at Central Park in the middle of downtown, then take Illinois Route 78 to Farmington and resume the drive.The event on the next two Saturdays and Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will include historical storytelling of Elmwood's interesting past in the park's gazebo at 10 a.m, noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., entertainment and children's activities and food and craft vendors."We tried to get some unique craft vendors, and not just your average garage sale-looking vendors," Centers said.
