Source: The Herald-Sun, Durham, N.儲存C.Aug. 01--DURHAM -- The Durham Public Schools Board of Education on Thursday announced that it was reprimanding Superintendent Eric J. Becoats for misuse of a DPS activity bus and driver in June.A news release issued by DPS indicated that legal counsel for the board investigated Becoat's use of a bus to take friends and family to private events June 7 and 8, including a trip to Southpoint Mall. The investigation found that use of the bus violated district policy and state law, but that Becoats didn't intend to break either. He promptly paid an invoiced amount, district officials reported, but the investigation "showed that the invoiced amount did not cover the full cost of the driver." Becoats received a revised invoice, which he paid."School employees and, in particular, school leaders must not use public resources for private benefit," the release stated. 新蒲崗迷你倉The Board has issued a letter of reprimand to Dr. Becoats that explains the Board's serious concerns about this issue."In response to the reprimand, Becoats is quoted in the release: "I contracted for use of an activity bus and paid in full the invoices provided to me. After the use of the activity bus on the contracted dates, I was informed of the local and state policy. I apologize for my mistake. As Superintendent, I will continue to build on the progress that we have made in the district (decrease in dropout rates, increase in graduation rates, increases in student proficiency rates, etc.). Additional work remains to be accomplished and I look forward to completing the task with our Board of Education, staff, families and community."Copyright: ___ (c)2013 The Herald-Sun (Durham, N.C.)
